SqueezeCenter
Created by
Slim Devices,
SqueezeCenter is
OpenSourceSoftware written in
Perl∞. It is designed to run on a variety of Operating Systems (Linux, Mac OSX, Windows) and it is the basis for the
SlimCar project. It was previously called
SlimServer.
SqueezeCenter's purpose is to maintain a structured database of all of the music files in your media library. It provides a web interface to allow playlist control, searching and much, much more. It is designed to interface with the
SqueezeBox line of hardware media players, as well as with generic media streaming software like
Winamp∞ and
Windows Media Player∞. The Slim Devices team have also produced the excellent
SoftSqueeze; this is a
Java∞-based software media player that replicates all of the features of a real
SqueezeBox.
